Just Did (~ta bakari)
〜たばかり
~たばかり expresses that an action was just completed very recently.
Pattern
Verb (ta-form) + ばかり
Explanation
~たばかり indicates that an action has just been completed — the time elapsed is short. It is formed by adding ばかり after the past tense (ta-form) of a verb. The speaker perceives the action as having happened very recently.
Importantly, 'recently' is subjective. ~たばかり can refer to something that happened minutes, days, or even months ago, as long as the speaker feels it was recent. For example: この会社に入ったばかりです could mean you joined the company last week or a few months ago — the point is that it still feels new to you.
Compare with ~たところだ, which specifically means 'just now' (objectively very recent — usually minutes). ~たばかり has a wider time range and is more about the speaker's perception of recency.

Common Mistakes
Wrong
食べるばかり (meaning 'just ate')
Correct
食べたばかり
Use the past tense (ta-form) before ばかり. Dictionary form + ばかり has a different meaning ('only/nothing but').
Wrong
来たばかり (for something that happened long ago objectively)
Correct
来た (or use a different expression)
While the time range is subjective, don't use たばかり for events the listener would clearly not consider recent.
Wrong
食べたばかりところ
Correct
食べたばかりだ / 食べたところだ
Don't combine ばかり and ところ. Use one or the other.
